This took two ‘sittings’ to complete, as the shadows were moving so quickly. There have been some lovely sunny days over the holiday break and I have tried to make the most of my free time, given the limited daylight hours, to complete a number of sketches. The shadows on the City Chambers caught my eye, and there appeared to be a sunny spot in which to sit. But it did not take long for the light to disappear, as well as several vehicles entering the courtyard forcing me to move. So I came back next day to finish it off (note I have edited out the vehicles!). The statue is of Bucephalus and Alexander. I’m not sure why this is relevant to Edinburgh City Council, who are based in the building, but it is magnificent.
